On Tuesday evening I (along with many others, I suspect) reported two sites to Facebook. One was a community page called “Dale Cregan Tribute” and another page was entitled “Dale Cregan OBE”.
On Wednesday I received mails from Facebook saying:
Thanks for your recent report of a potential violation on Facebook. After reviewing your report, we were not able to confirm that the specific page you reported violates Facebook’s Statement of Rights and Responsibilities.
I actually thought that if Facebook’s guidelines did not prohibit the celebration of extreme violence in such a way, then there must be something wrong with the guidelines.
I am delighted to say that, after that initial disappointment, both pages have now disappeared from Facebook. I also note that a 22 year old man has been arrested in connection with one of the pages.
