Such was the chant, which I found myself repeating at Earls Court today. Bulgaria’s men’s volleyball team put up a spirited fight against Russia in the Olympic semi-finals.
When Russia walked on it was hard to see how they wouldn’t win. They are a very tall team. Height tends to come in handy in volleyball, it seems, speaking, admittedly, as a novice observer of the sport.
It’s a shame the crowd booed Russia at times. Very bad sportspersonship, which probably made those wily old Ruskies all the more determined to win….
I thought Bulgaria were badly let down by serving into the net on repeated occasions. Fairly basic stuff. But then, they had a fairly traumatic run-up to the Olympic, so did well to get as far as the semi-final.
