The crazy world of US politics summed up

Nothing sums up better the visceral hatred in American politics, particularly through the prism of the health care reform debate, than this. Prompted by the, admittedly vague, remarks of Senator Coburn, “Tea parties” have been praying for the death of dear old Senator Robert Byrd. He’s 92 years old and in frail health, and is, one of the 60 votes the Democrats need to prevent filibustering in the US Senate. The mere fact that he has had to be wheeled into the chamber at all hours of the day and night, to get teh votes through, is completely insane. It all comes back to the crazy filibustering rules. As Senator Whitehouse recently warned, there is likely to be a “Day of reckoning” for all this crazy stuff.

"There is a refreshing frankness to the musings of Liberal Burblings which single this blog out. The ability to not mince one's words is highly prized here and, when combined with the ability to profane without insulting the reader's intelligence, is excellent. Whether pondering on the state of the Lib Dems, the country or the world at large, you can rely on Liberal Burblings to tell it like he thinks it is." - www.politics.co.uk
