Harman’s ridiculous defence of the Fiscal Responsibility bill
Any Questions was very entertaining this week. They had Harriet Harman on. I actually felt sorry for her at one point, as she was asked about using mobile phones in cars. Quite rightly, she refused to answer (even managing to avoid to use the words ’sub judice’).
But her explanation of the Fiscal Responsibility Bill did not evince sympathy. Does she think we are thick? She spent a lot of time telling us why deficits need to be reduced and attacking the Tory party for their inheritance tax plans. We got a sentence to say that having a bill would chivvy up government departments because they would then have a ’statutory responsibility’ to take action to help to half the deficit within four years.
But as the questioner originally asked: “Who will be prosecuted if the deficit isn’t halved in four years?”
….And answer came there none.
