Blair reckons Miliband could beat Brown

Good grief. With friends like Blair, Brown doesn’t need enemies. The Observer reports:

Tony Blair has told his closest political allies that if David Miliband challenges Gordon Brown for the Labour leadership ‘he will win’.

Possible cop-out in Northern Ireland process

While acknowledging the historic nature of the DUP’s decision to go into government with Sinn Fein (albeit with a delay), Peter Hain has left the door open for a delay on the 26th March deadline. If DUP and Sinn Fein agree on a delay, then, he says, that’s OK. And Sinn Fein have said that the DUP must talk directly to them to allow a delay.

Crikey. It’s a good job no-one is holding their breath.

Chancellor Straw seems a cert

Now that Jack Straw has been announced as Brown’s leadership campaign manager, it seems that we know the names of both the next PM and the Chancellor.

Money saving expert

This site has been recommended to me by friends at work. They have raved about it, saying you can save a fortune on it. I have sent the link to my wife for her review. Her middle name is “reduced for a quickie”, so she should be able to give me an objective view on it.

In praise of white tea

I have gone off normal black tea. After experimenting with green and red tea, I have now found the tea for me. White tea.

Harry Hill's TV Burp triumph

I know its cheap ITV tea time trash, but I thoroughly enjoy Harry Hill’s TV burp. While being a mainstream comedian, he seems to incorporate a remarkable intellectual sharpness into his comedy. As a tribute, I have enshrined one of his zanier quotes in my sidebar.

"There is a refreshing frankness to the musings of Liberal Burblings which single this blog out. The ability to not mince one's words is highly prized here and, when combined with the ability to profane without insulting the reader's intelligence, is excellent. Whether pondering on the state of the Lib Dems, the country or the world at large, you can rely on Liberal Burblings to tell it like he thinks it is." - www.politics.co.uk
